A Facilitator of Learning (Andragogy.)
By definition, consists of teaching styles and strategies focused on people who are attracted to a process of ‘engaged learning’ within a structure of learning though experiences.
Two primary understandings: (1) Life-long and life-wide education (2) Humanistic conception of self-directed and autonomous learners and teachers / coaches as ‘Facilitators of Learning.”
Six assumptions related to Motivational Learning:
- Need to know: the reason for learning something.
- Foundation: Experience (including error) is the basis of learning.
- Self-Concept: People are responsible for their decisions on education and involvement in the planning and evaluation of their instruction.
- Readiness: Subjects having immediate relevance to their work and personal lives.
- Orientation: Learning is problem-centered rather than content-centered.
- Motivation: Internal versus external motivators.
