Engaged Learning

A Facilitator of Learning (Andragogy.)

By definition, consists of teaching styles and strategies focused on people who are attracted to a process ofengaged learning’ within a structure of learning though experiences.

Two primary understandings: (1) Life-long and life-wide education (2) Humanistic conception of self-directed and autonomous learners and teachers / coaches as ‘Facilitators of Learning.”

Six assumptions related to Motivational Learning:

  1. Need to know: the reason for learning something.
  2. Foundation: Experience (including error) is the basis of learning.
  3. Self-Concept: People are responsible for their decisions on education and  involvement in the planning and evaluation of their instruction.
  4. Readiness: Subjects having immediate relevance to their work and personal lives.
  5. Orientation: Learning is problem-centered rather than content-centered.
  6. Motivation: Internal versus external motivators.
